Antique Murals by Guido d'Aquili - Collection of Six
Monumental set of six narrative wall murals, beautifully painted and full of detail, depicting the rhyme of Old King Cole. Commissioned in the early 1920's and painted by Italian- American artist Guido D'Aquili, they originally adorned the walls of a Trenton, NJ Italian social club. Panels have retained their vivid coloring and are signe
Monumental set of six narrative wall murals, beautifully painted and full of detail, depicting the rhyme of Old King Cole. Commissioned in the early 1920's and painted by Italian- American artist Guido D'Aquili, they originally adorned the walls of a Trenton, NJ Italian social club. Panels have retained their vivid coloring and are signed and dated 1921 and 1922 by the artist. Each panel depicts a scene from the rhyme including "the bowl" and "the fiddlers three". Figures are dressed in Renaissance style garments. Inspired by the Old King Cole murals by Maxfield Parrish in the Knickerbocker Bar at the St. Regis Hotel in New York City. Murals are painted on homasote board.
